Happy Shakori!

In the fall of 2014, Ellis Dyson & the Shambles was a college band with barely more than a dozen shows played. More specifically, our band archivist puts the number at seventeen shows as October rolled around. In other words, it was the early days.

The band all had a special connection to the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival. Ellis and Adam had been to every Shakori in their high school days, and Danny played with Mipso for the first time at the Carson’s Grove stage a few years earlier. Ellis penned a heartfelt inquiry email about the significance of Shakori to his life and to North Carolina, and sure enough we found ourselves on the bill! We played the midnight Saturday slot at Carson’s Grove in a light rain (of course) in what is one of our most memorable sets.

This Thursday at 9pm we will be in our home within Shakori - the Dance Tent - for our 5th (!) Shakori appearance. The friends we make in the dance tent pop up throughout the rest of the year, and it really feels like a family reunion. Come join us on what is always a highlight of the year. Even if you can’t make our Thursday set, we still encourage you to come check out the festival. Happy Shakori to all and we'll see you there!
